We embarked on the design process for Gempetit with a vision to create an 18 feet tall facade, flanking the artery of Mumbai, Peddar Road, to arrest a passer-by’s attention and double up as a marketing dream. Secondly, the choice of construction materials used needed to illustrate the essence of the brand. Lastly, the design didn’t need to be only global, but also needed to find its root in the Indian culture. Inspired by temple design, where ornamented exteriors grow into minimalistic interiors to shift the worshipper’s attention to the deity, our highly detailed façade inspired by traditional Rajasthani doors was followed up by minimalistic interiors to shift the consumer’s focus to the hero of the store, the jewellery itself!
