Deep breath. That was our physical reaction when we dropped a 4.5 feet by 2 feet linear workstation block into the Autocad drawing. Staring at us, on our computer screen, against the large expanse of an 80,000 SFT. space, this linear workstation meant for one employee looked like a drop in the ocean. We had to juggle various challenges to reach the desired objective for this office. These included a design solution that provided the highest levels of space optimisation, uncompromised on functionality, and strict budgets and timelines. Additionally, we were required to provide the best in modern technology, which apart from basic electrical and lighting solutions, included data networking, audio-visual, fire-fighting, access control and CCTV solutions. The most looming challenge, however, was to juggle all these requirements along with the aesthetics, a quality usually known to be divorced from back office interiors.
